Lifting system for installing gantry cranes - has gantry supported by rotatable lifting beam climbing up sectional column mounted on transportable base

The lifting system has a central column (4) consisting of segments (5) screwed end to end. The bottom of the column fits into a boss (3) with four radiating arms (2) at the ends of which are stepwise sliding transport units (1) incorporating an automatic levelling system (14). A rotatable lifting beam (12) is mounted on a climbing assembly (6, 7, 8, 9) which is actuated by hydraulic cylinders (10) to raise or lower the beam. To dismantle a gantry crane the lifting system is raised to support the gantry and the crane end tresles removed. The gantry can then be turned through 90deg. and lowered. Excess column sections are removed and the gantry transported out of the hall or workshop. Installation is carried out by a reverse process. USE/ADVANTAGE - Installation and dismantling of crane can be done quickly without additional equipment or building modifications.
