Reactive dyestuffs (I) with an alkynylsulphonyl gp. are of the formula X-L-E (I). In (I) E = a gp. of the formula -Ar(Z1)(Z2)-SO2-CH(Z3)CC-Z4; Ar = benzene or naphthalene ring; Z1 and Z2 independently = H, 1-4C alkyl (opt. substd. by amino or 1-4C alkanoylamino), (substd.) phenyl, 1-4C alkoxy, COOH, 1-4C alkoxycarbonyl, CN, halogen or -SO3H; Z3 and Z4 independently = H, 1-4C alkyl (opt. substd. by OH or 1-4C alkoxy) or (substd.) phenyl; X = (a) a chromophore gp., opt. with other reactive gps., derived from an opt. metallised mono- or disazo dyestuff, triphenodioxazine, anthraquinone, metallised formazan or metallised phthalocyanine; or (b) a coupling component gp., opt. connected to another diazo component gp. by an azo bridge and opt. with other reactive gps.; L = (a) a bridging gp. of formula -N(Q1)-A- (IIA) or (IIB) or (b) an azo bridge; Q1, Q2 and Q3 independently = H or 1-4C alkyl; Q4 = a projecting gp.; A = a chemical bond or 1-4C alkylene. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) are for dyeing and printing substrates contg. OH gps. or N. Such substrates include leather and fibrous materials, mainly natural and synthetic polyamides, esp. wool, and natural and regenerated cellulose, esp. cotton. (I) are esp. suitable for exhaustion dyeing and the cold dwell process and give high yield, high wet fastness and brilliant dyeing. Unfixed (I) can be washed out easily.
