The circuit breaker unit is phase connected with the busbars (5) by means of fixed contact stems (16), and by means of moving contact stems (18) with the entries (8). Its quenching gas is enclosed in quenching chambers (1), designed pressure and gas tight. The filling pressure of the quenching gas (PLf) is less than that of the insulating gas (PIf). By means of a suitable dimensioning of the current path parts in the quenching chambers and in the remaining plant space (4a), with a determined operating current, the excess temp. of the parts in the quenching chambers (1) is approximately the same size as the temp. of the parts (5,6,7,8) in the plant space (4a). The filling pressure of the quenching gas is at least 0.1 bar under that of the insulating gas. USE/ADVANTAGE - Metallic encapsulated switchgear filled with insulating gas. Contamination of insulating gas by fission products contained in quenching gas is prevented with certainty in all operating conditions.
