A phosphor (I) has an organic binder made of gelatin and casein, which bonds the dye to the phosphor. - Prodn. of (I) is also claimed, in which a dispersion of red phosphor particles, a dispersion of red dye particles and a dispersion of an organic binder are mixed and sufficiently stirred, the pH of the mixt. obtd. adjusted, pref. to 6.8-7, binding agent added, pref. formaldehyde, the mixt. washed and then dried. - Pref. the red dye is Fe2O3, Pb2O3 or (Cd,Se)S in an amt. of 0.01-2 wt. pts. phosphor. The phosphor is Y2O2S:Eu phosphor, Y2O3:Eu or YVO4:Eu phosphor.
