In assessment and optimisation of root systems in hydroponic culture, by means of a glass plate test, a strip of gel with a biological and/or chemical inoculate is arranged in the space between two glass plates fixed together with spacers, two pre-germinated cultivated plant seeds are arranged between the gel strip and the spacer, incubation is begun, and the affinity index is determined.
