摘要
Fractions of aromatic cpds. comprising less polymerisable parts are used which are unsuitable for the prepn.of resins and are polymerised using, as catalyst, a complex of aluminium chloride, HCl and an alkylated benzene or naphthalene. Broadens the range of hydrocarbon resins which can be used and obtains mixts. with reduced bromine number. Pref., the catalyst is separately prepd. by the reaction of AlCl3 with HCl and an alkylated benzene or naphthalene, or is prepd. in situ by adding solid AlCl3 to the fraction to be polymersied and by introducing HCl into the reaction mixt. The resin distillate of a previous polymerisation reaction of an aromatic oil fraction with AlCl3, BF3 or BF3 adducts as catalyst is introduced as the fraction of aromatic cpds. USE/ADVANTAGE - The resins are used as heat carrier oils, modifiers for hardenable polymers, e.g. epoxy resins, polyurethane resins, phenol resins or polyesters, as components of corrosion protection coatings, as components in sealing compounds or briquet builders or adhesives or in repair compsns., as resins in impregnating oils or in the colour printing industry, as binding agents in the fire proofing industry and as solvents or colourants in recording materials e.g. carbon paper (are claimed)
