High pressure discharge lamps for pulsed operation in the acoustic frequency range, e.g. Na-lamps, consist of a base, lamp housing, discharge unit and non magnetostrictive fixtures and current supply parts. The feature is that the non magnetostrictive parts consist of alloys, pref. a Cu-Ni alloy with a Cu content of more than 30%, an alloy of Fe with either 1-5% Mn, or 8% Ti, or 5-10% Si or 5-10% Mo or 25% Mo. USE/ADVANTAGE - The alloys are easier to use in mfr. and less expensive than currently used material combinations. Lamps made using these material can be made in domestic rooms because of the subjective absence of noise.
