A method of ejecting coins stuck in a stack involves applying at least a short electrical pulse to an electromagnet (1) in an electromechanical pay-out arrangement when a signal is produced (3) indicating that a coin (2) is stuck in the pay-out arrangement or channel (4). The duration of the pulse is selected so that no unobserved pay-out occurs but only one ejection of the coin stuck in the pay-out device or one shaking of the device is applied. USE/ADVANTAGE - Coins stuck in the pay-out device, preferably of a coin-operated games machine, are ejected with reduced mechanical loading on arrangement.
