The buffer space (12) can be used for stowing bulky goods or for the installation of a cool box (14). In the intermediary space between the boot (10) and the rear seat (11) a tubular accommodation (16), open at both ends and closable at will, is fixed, which takes a releasably inserted cool box (14) with a refrigerator unit (30). The accommodation (16) is formed as a container (17), and has a four-cornered cross-section, with two spaced apart side walls (19), an upper wall (21) and a lower wall (22). The container at its rear end issuing into the boot, and at its front end, has fold-away closing flaps (23, 24), the rear of which (23) is pivotable around a horizontal pivot axis (25) located at the level of the upper wall (21), and in its open position can be folded upwards. The front closure flap (24) is pivotable around a horizontal pivot axis (27) located at the level of the lower wall (22), and is foldable downwards in its open position.
