A medicinal agent comprising acetylcysteine in isotonic 0.9% NaCl soln. as carrier liq. is claimed. USE/ADVANTAGE - The agent is able to diffuse into animal and human cells where the acetylcysteine promotes restoration of the protein-enzyme deficiency existing in allergics (e.g. adenosine- deaminase enzyme deficiency) and stimulates prodn. of steroid hormones and neuro transmitters such as acetylcholine and dopamine and ADP and ATP in the citrate cycle (breathing chain) which are important for muscle tensioning and relaxation such as in cramping of the bronchia and bronchioles in bronchitis and bronchial asthma, so that the agent is esp. useful in treating these conditions.
