Printing continuous strip with universal print roller - using variable speed print cylinder to hold different lengths of masters and controlling synchronous feed

The printer prints patterns (DL) or different lengths onto the continuous feed paper (21) by varying the print roller speed. During the print phase the roller is moved synchronous with the paper. During the non-print phase the roller is stopped, or moved at a different speed to the paper, either faster or slower. The roller takes different lengths of print master and has a circumference longer than the longest master. A microprocessor controls the roller drive to a program for the different master sizes. ADVANTAGE - Requires single print cylinder.
