Recovery and reuse of e.g. used car parts - by disintegrating selected parts, passing the particles to bins, mixing selected bin contents and thermoplastics, heating and pressing to shape

Unsorted materials are recovered and reused so as to produce flat sheets or mouldings of different SGs from scrap containing thermoplastics, thermosets and (particularly) mineral and natural fibres. In the process the scrap materials are disintegrated and passed to various bins according to their composition; from these bins the materials are chosen and fed to a mixer to blend together the particles concerned; the mixts are then heated to above the m.pt. of the thermoplastics present and are pressed into the flat sheets or mouldings. To assist in bonding the materials polyethylene and/or polypropylene and/or polyurethane and/or a bioadhesive is/are pref added to the mixt. ADVANTAGE - The procedure is simple and economical. It is particularly sutable for application to used cars but e.g. packings, furniture or domestic articles can also be used.
