A number of specific processes (1-3) is located in an area. Each has a local processor and data bank. The units are connected to a multimaster bus (14) and are serially coupled. A monitor station (4) is connected via the serial link to the bus. This has an associated printer (5). A separate, redundant multi master bus (15) interconnects a number of engineer consoles (6-10) and alarm panels (11-13). Measured values are compared with predefined threshold levels. Any level exceeded is signalled to the alarm panels. USE - Monitoring temp. and pressure of machines, pumps, valves, gearing and auxiliary circuits in ship's engine room.
