A grubbing machine for uprooting tree trunks has a tripod (1) from which a hydraulic cylinder (4Z) and its piston are suspended. Its piston rod (4K) is connected to the trunk (10) by cables (8A,8B), and the tripod is arranged so that the cylinder (4Z) and piston rod (4K) are perpendicular over the trunk (10). At the end of the rod (4K) is a revolving cable anchor (9), on either side of which, symmetrical to the piston axis, two cables (8A,8B) extend upwards, over two pulleys (3A,3B), and downwards on the other side to the object (10). USE/ADVANTAGE - No weight is imposed on the root area around the trunk so that it and its root system can be lifted clear.
