Filler safety device for evaporator for liq. anaesthetic - prevents filling unless temp. of anaesthetic is below its boiling point

An evaporator (2) for a liquid anaesthetic has a filler chamber (3) which is fitted with a filler safety device (1). The safety device has a slot (8) which receives an adaptor which connects the filler pipe to the chamber inlet (5) and connects the vent passage to a vent pipe. When the evaporator is not being filled, the slot (8) is occupied by a slider (9) which replaces the adaptor. The slider (9) is locked in the slot by the rod (19) of a temperature sensitive device which engages a recess in the slider. The slider cannot be removed until the temperature of the anaesthetic falls below its boiling point so that the device (15) contracts and releases the slider. USE/ADVANTAGE - Filler safety device for anaesthetic evaporator. Evaporator can only be filled when temperature of anaesthetic is below its boiling point.
