Old concrete processing - by giving fragments coating of phenol¨ glue resin to prevent escape of toxic material into environment

When breaking up concrete, or grinding old concrete, the fragments are treated with a aq. soln of phenol-glue resin by immersion or spraying to give thema resin layer for drying. After the resin has started to harden, where the resin had no interaction with the concrete and forms no chemical cpds with it, the coated concrete material is used in mixts for construction and road building, and the like. After the concrete fragments have been coated with the resin layer, they are treated with a mineral dust after or during the drying stage, and pref. powdered, to prevent them from sticking together.
