Magnetising permanent magnets using multi-pole pulse-magnetising device - superimposing two field pulses which reach their maxima for north and south poles at different times
Magnetising permanent magnets using multi-pole pulse-magnetising device - superimposing two field pulses which reach their maxima for north and south poles at different times
The method is used to magnetise highly coercive multipole permanent magnets (1) with a multi-pole magnetising device (3). Two field pulses (H1,H2) are superimposed. Those fields are a first unipolar constant amplitude pulse (H1) and a second bipolar alternating field pulse (H2). The fields of both pulses (H1,H2) are added together for the north (N) and south (S) poles of the magnet (1) without reversing the field direction. The field maxima (H4,H5) for the north and south poles are about double the amplitude of the individual fields (H1,H2). The maxima (H4,H5) of the two poles (N,S) are not reached simultaneously, but one after the other. Thus, the overall resulting energy is less than simultaneous magnetising using a single field pulse. The maximum amplitude of the alternating field (H2) is preferably the same as the amplitude of the first pulse (H1). ADVANTAGE - Limits maximum energy required so is more efficient.
