A circular sepn. tank has a conical floor and roof which are traversed by scrapers for removing sepd. solid materials. At least one of the surfaces and/or scrapers is self-adjusting in the axial direction so as to provide as small a clearance between them as possible. The conical surface may be free to move in an axial direction, and rests under its own weight on the scraper blades. This conical surface consists of an addtional inner surface of the conical roof. The scraper blades are fitted so that their position can be adjusted in the radial direction on their support arms which are attached to the vertical shaft. The entire rigid scraper system may be supported loosely on the shaft so that it can move in a radial and/or axial direction. The lower scraper blades and/or their support arms are pressed against the floor surface by springs. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used in circular vessels in which light and heavy contaminants are separated from waste water by gravity. Allows the sepd. material to be removed from the vessel quickly, entirely and in a fresh form. This is desirable since by organic material remaining adhering to the inner surface of the roof or floor may decay or ferment with disadvantageous results
