The heat storage loose material is contained in an intermediate space between an outer cylindrical steel grid wall, and a concentric, inner, ceramic refractory brick wall, with collecting space between the outer wall and regenerator housing. Together with the space between intermediate space and inner wall it has gas and/or storage material inlet and outlet openings. The individual inner wall bricks (14) have a cavity (15) which opens into the heat storage space and is filled with fine grain loose material (17). There is a blind bore (19), brought out from the brick wall (18) facing the interior of the regenerator and led into the storage medium filled space (17, 15). USE/ADVANTAGE - For blast furnaces etc. with use of fine pellets as storage medium for improved heat exchange.
