The engine has a timing device controlling the opening point of the gas discharge channel of each engine cylinder, synchronised with the timing of the fuel injection device. Pref. the timing device uses a microprocessor control (48) for determining both the opening point of the exit valve (45) and its open duration, dependent on the detected engine revs and load.
