The caison comprises a reinforced, bottom-open gas-tight removal casing (1), with external, vertical planks (10) longer than the casing height. They are gas-tightly joined to the casing and can be moved up and down by double-acting sliders (12) w.r.t. the casing. The casing contains a removal mechanism and has a gas-tight lock (5) in its upper cover (1b) to remove the extracted material. Pref. the casing has four corner elements as long as the planks, pointed at their bottom ends. USE/ADVANTAGE - For reclamation of contaminated soil etc. with improved sealing against the atmos.
