The is optical cable replacement section used to repair faulty optical cable earth wires on pylons. A cable length on a drum is mounted on a pylon to enable reasonably quick repairs to be made to the faulty section. Cable construction comprises a core of high tensile cabled wires on an optical cable carrying tube, the whole core being enclosed in an extruded plastic sleeve e.g. high density polyethylene (HDPE). A coupling is located at each end of the optical cable and an anchoring wire is wound onto the ends of the cable. The cable is then wound onto a special drum. Repairs to defective cables are made by separating the faulty sections at adjacent pylons and the connection remade with the replacement cable and connector on the mast. USE - The optical cable length is used to replace faulty sections of optical cable earth wire at pylons.
