Hose or pipe, esp. for combustible media, consists of antistatic polymer with cold impact strength and low electrical surface resistance, which is stable towards peroxide. The novelty is that it has an esp. narrow metal tape on the inside wall to earth a voltage or charge. Several metal tapes are used in a spatial array. The pipe consists of at least 2 different polymer layers. It is tough and/or modified with plasticiser. The pipe or at least one layer consists of polyamide, pref. a homo- or copolyamide, polyamide elastomer or blend, pref. based on 6-12 C monomers. If several layers are used, at least one consists of HDPE and/or functionalised copolyolefin or of EVA. The pipe is produced by incorporating metal tape(s) during extrusion, pref. using a cross-head. The tape is warmed and introduced in spiral form. If several tapes are used, they cover the inside wall partly or completely. USE/ADVANTAGE - The tape prevents static charges, ensuring that the voltage does not exceed 1 kV/cm (pref. 0.1)kV/cm. It is useful e.g. in fuel pipes.
