Element comprises a metallic mirror body (1) fitted to an inorganic support mfd. with a protruding pattern (5) on the side opposite that of the mirror. The pattern is closed by a metallic disc (7) and coolant may flow through the meandering pattern, entering and leaving via side openings (9,10). Pref. support may be an enamel or other ceramic material eg. MgO with an expansion coefft. of 15.10 power-6/deg.K. It pref. contains good thermal conductive material e.g. metal powder. USE/ADVANTAGE - Rapidly cooled.
