To cook food through on an electric cooking stove, the food and pot filled with water is placed within a recessed boiling plate, where the recess is fitted with a heat-insulating side- wall up to the recess height or up to the level of the cooking pot. Where the sidewalls cover the level of the cooking pot, a removable or hinged lid covers the pot within the heat insulating sidewalls. Or the pot on the recessed cooking plate is covered all round by a stiff or flexible shrouding with fixed edges. The cooking pot can be shrouded with heat insulation when the electric current is switched off, after the cooking water has reached boiling point. ADVANTAGE - The technique reduces electric current consumption, for cooking, by using the current only to bring the food to cooking temp. and then containing the heat for cooking through.
