The head is contacted by grippers in a vertically adjustable frame so that a common tangent to the top of the aural opening and underside of the eye socket is horizontal. Accelerometers (1-3) joined by rods (12) with a clamp (11) to the jaw (4) provide measurements in a Cartesian co-ordinate system (x, y, z) for successive integrations to obtain nine velocities and displacements, from which the movement of each point is computed online.
