A composite sheet of two or more different flat materials bonded together with an adhesive uses at least one translucent and at least one transparent layer, the latter material being the substrate for the other. The transulucent layer is e.g. metal foil, paper, or fabric; the composite includes preferably a decorative veneer, plastic veneer, glass or acrylic material. ADVANTAGE - The product is suitable for use in furniture in particular. It is free from solid timber or e.g. environmentally valuable tropical woods. The transparent and translucent layers, provide attractive appearances. Good visual effects can be obtained by the use of a light source to suit the materials.
