The arrangement for measuring the distance between points separated by a non-metallic medium contains a conventional oscillator circuit (1), an amplifier and rectifier circuit and conventional microelectronic distance evaluation and display circuits. A low frequency transmission module generating an alternating magentic field contains the oscillator circuit with a transmission coil (2). A spatially separate reception module contains a receiver coil (3). The transmission and reception coils have either common or parallel axes. USE/ADVANTAGE - Generally for simple, robust, reliable and economical length measurement under adverse external conditions, e.g. where the measurement points are in different spaces, e.g. separated by walls.
