The microwave oven has a DC/AC converter (3) allowing the DC voltage to be converted into an AC voltage fed to the magnetron (4) via a HF transformer (10). The latter has separate primary windings (10a,10b) for the AC supply and the DC supply and a secondary winding (10d) coupled to the magnetron (4). Pref. the secondary circuit of the transformer (10) has a current sensor (10e,10f) coupled to a frequency control for the DC/AC converter (3). ADVANTAGE - Allows operation from AC network or storage battery.
