Providing a large vol. refractory lining in a container, e.g., metal ladle, involves prefabricating the lining (12) and placing in a plastic bag (14) with lifting eyes. The bag is lifted up and placed in the ladle (10) on a bed of sand. The space between the bag and the ladle wall is then filled with sand and the bag is trimmed. ADVANTAGE - Simple method, reduced labour.
