Wheel-speed sensors (5) are used on the driven and undriven wheels. The signals from all the sensors and integrated and compared with reference values. If the level is exceeded on the driven wheels, signifying wheelspin, the ABS operates only with the signals from the undriven wheels. The wheel-speed signals are used to generate an accurate speed for the vehicle. The exclusion mode, during wheel-spin, covers abnormalities in the drive unit as well as cases where both throttle and brake pedals are pressed - panic braking with automatic transmission. ADVANTAGE - Fail-safe braking control; accurate determination of vehicle speed.
