Appts. for tanning skins and fleeces consists of a horizontal vessel which rotates inside a closed container. Temperature controlled vessels serve for recycling and disposing of the tanning liquids and are connected to the tanning vessel. These vessels are arranged so that removal of sulphur dioxide, fats, solids, proteins and salts as well as chromium hydroxide is achieved. A sealable filling chamber for the skins or fleeces, with an emptying opening, is provided at the open end of the inner vessel. This filling chamber may be mounted on a pivoting support. The vessel is kept at an even temp. by the insulating layer of air between it and the outer container, and is provided with inlets for the tanning liquid and additives. External scrolls on the rotating inner vessel ensure that impurities are moved towards an outlet point. Treatment of soaking water, lye-water and pickling water is achieved in flotation containers which are connected directly with the storage containers for the respective liq(s). USE/ADVANTAGE - For curing and treatment of skins and fleeces. Damage to the environment due to the disposal of the undesirable elements in the tannery waste water is avoided in economically and energy-efficiently. The consumption of chemicals is also reduced and operation costs are decreased.
