The appts. to prepare cardboard winding sleeves, to be wound with yarn, cuts a wide and narrow recess in the end to catch the end of the yarn, with an angle position sensor (16) to control the movement of the cutting blade (6) and an angle sensor (13) to control the operation of a furrowing disc (8). The angle position sensor (13) for the furrowing disc (8) has several base sensors (13a,13b) on the same shaft (12), which rotate alternately and independently to give a variable and adjustable response curve. The whole unit (14) is controlled by the second sensor (13) through a tracker (15) which responds to the curve contour of the second sensor (13). ADVANTAGE - The appts. can provide a wide and narrow cut in the sleeve, to catch the yarn end and then trap it for winding to start, in an automatic action, to give sleeves suitable for working with fine yarns and threads.
