Colour TV CRT with integral contact spring and getter construction - enabling latter to be U=shaped and held by extension of end of retaining plate

A shadow mask-frame construction (3, 4) is mounted on the inner surface of the plate (1) having a fluorescent material layer on its base surface. The bell part (2) has a conductive graphite layer (2a) on its inner surface. The neck part accommodates the electron gun. A conductive piece (C) connects the mask construction (3, 4) to the graphite layer. A getter section (6) increases the vacuum in the c.r.t. One end of the piece (C) is fixed to the mask construction while its other end is U-shaped, forming a contact spring for the graphite layer (2a). The getter material retainer (6b) of the getter section is fixed to one side of the contact spring. The conductive arrangement and getter section thus form a combined component. ADVANTAGE - Firmer contact for getter construction, resistant to impact and creation of h.v. arcing.
