The edge mounting for the window of a vehicle such as a car is produced in stages. An edging is extruded in an elastomer with opposite pressure areas acting against the window; a contact for part of those areas is produced in nylon, polyurethane, polyolefin or polystyrene or similar; a rough surface is produced on the areas concerned by coarse and fine powders and polymer granules with different melting pts., with a series of projections and impressions being formed on the surface; and the contact area and rough surface are extruded at the same time as the edging. Preferred powders, granules etc. are nylon, polyurethane, fluor-polymer, or polyolefin, e.g. mixed with mica, molybdenum and/or graphite. ADVANTAGE - The product allows the window to be opened and closed easily for a very long period. When the window is closed it prevents ingress of rain or washing water. The method of its production is suitable for inexpensive mass production.
