Two parallel rows (9a, 9b) of heating elements apply uniform pressure to a sheet of paper fastened to a platen (3). The latter does not rotate until an ink ribbon in contact with the paper is completely sublimated. After both lines have been printed, a stepping motor advances the paper and ribbon together so that third and fourth lines can be printed simultaneously. Such movements can be minimised with more rows of heating elements. ADVANTAGE - Data transmission time is shortened and clear image ensured with uniform spacing between rows of simultaneously heated elements.
