The vibrator has two rotating eccentric masses (4, 5) on shafts (2, 3) which may be arranged coaxially (as shown) or side-by-side. Drive from the motor (7) is by belt or chain (8) directly to one eccentric mass (5) and indirectly via double pulley (12) and belt (11) to the other (4). In the system of coplanar pulleys (10, 12, 13, 14, 16) transmitting the drive to the eccentric mass (5), two pulleys (16) fixed in tandem on a link (15) can be moved bodily towards or away from the axis of rotation (6) of the eccentric masses. This movement causes one shaft to rotate relative to the other, allowing stepless variation of the phase of one mass relative to the other. ADVANTAGE - Vibratory feeders, sieves, road surface compactors etc. Simple principle with flexible range of application.
