Process for improving the bleaching of chemical paper pulps by means of ozone, characterised in that it consists: - first of all in placing the chemical pulp in contact with chlorine dioxide, - then, before the chlorine dioxide has been completely consumed, in introducing ozone into the pulp so that the reaction of the pulp with the ozone always takes place in the presence of chlorine dioxide.
