Application of a mouse monoclonal antibody specific for glucoconjugates containing an N-acetyllactosamine terminal structure to the classification, diagnosis and treatment of acute myeloid leukaemias
This 1B2 mouse anticarbohydrate monoclonal antibody directed against glycosphingolipids containing a type II lacto-N-glycosyl chain specific to glycolipids having a non-reducing N-acetyllactosamine terminal structure (Galbeta1 -- 4GlcNAcbeta1 -- R), not reacting with glycolipids having either a type I chain (Galbeta1 -- 3GlcNAcbeta1 -- R), a ganglioside structure (Galbeta1 -- 3GalNAcbeta1 -- R) or a sialosyl or fucosyl substitution on the N-acetyllactosamine radical, finds a novel application in the classification and diagnosis of acute myeloid leukaemias, as well as in the inhibition of proliferation of clonogenic leukaemic cells during ex vivo marrow purges before an autotransplantation.
