Compact vertical pipework fitting intended for cylinders with double ogives made from composite material containing compressed air at a pressure of 300 bar and used particularly on underwater or land-based respiratory apparatus. The invention relates to a vertical valve (tap) characterised in that the cylindrical body (1) fixed onto the cylinder (2) is reduced to an extremely simple outside and includes only one screw thread (3) for fastening a pressure relief device. The invention also relates to the internal operation of the valve, characterised by a mechanism controlled by a handwheel (4) which actuates a hollow rod (5) bringing about the opening of the shutter (6) and the passage of air to the pressure relief device.
