PURPOSE: To isolate a microorganism useful for inhibiting the growth of an unwanted plant and exterminating the plant. ;CONSTITUTION: This method for isolating a new microorganism which is a pathogen of a target weed when applied to the target weed at a suitable concentration comprises (a) a step for obtaining an asymptomatic plant, (b) a step for isolating the microorganism from the plant, (c) a step for multiplying the microorganism and preparing a stock solution, (d) a step for inoculating the microorganism obtained by the steps (b) and (c) into the objective weed species, (e) a step for observing whether or not a disease symptom is found in the inoculated weed species, (f) a step for recovering the microorganism from the plant manifesting the disease symptom or from a stock solution when the disease symptom is found.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO
