PURPOSE: To efficiently improve an octane number and to obtain a product which is useful as lead-free automobile fuel in good yielding at low cost by separating and distilling a low- boiling-point and a high-boiling-point component obtained by separating a lower hydrocarbon containing feed raw material in a distilling zone after processing them in an isomerizing zone and a reforming zone respectively. ;CONSTITUTION: The feed raw material 2 containing 5-7C hydrocarbons are sent in a splitter column as the 1st column of the distilling zone 1 consisting of the 1st column 21 and a 2nd column 22 and distilled, the low-boiling-point component 6 as a side-cut distillation is led to the isomerizing zone 5 and brought into contact with an isomerizing catalyst under isomerizing conditions so selected as to increase the octane numbers of the 5-6C components, and the reaction product is sent to a separating drum 13; and a rich-hydrogen off gas stream 14 is circulated to the isomerizing zone 5, a condensed liquid 16 is sent to a stabilizer 17 to extract a light component from the column top, and a column bottom stream 18 containing a high-octane-value product is returned to the distilling zone 1. A heavy hydrocarbon stream 4 as the high-boiling-point stream, on the other hand, is sent from the bottom of the column 21 to the reforming zone 3, the condensate 10 obtained by separating the reaction product by the separating drum 7 is led to the stabilizer to extract a light component from the column top, and a product 20 having a high octane number is obtained from the column bottom.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO
