PURPOSE: To provide a piezoelectric ceramic-epoxy composite which contains particles, wherein the thickness of piezoelectric ceramic is mainly λ/2 (half- wavelength) and an epoxy, and a manufacturing method of the composite. ;CONSTITUTION: This method contains the following: a process wherein ceramic powder whose particle size is about 3λ/4-3λ/2, preferably mainly larger than the λ/2 average particle size range and non-polar epoxy are mixed at 20-65vol% of the ceramic powder, and a process wherein mixture of ceramic and epoxy are spread on a flat plate to obtain a thickness nearly equal to the particle size. The mixture is discharged, air bubbles are eliminated, the epoxy is cured, and a sheet of ceramic and epoxy is formed. The surface of the sheet is ground as far as the λ/2 (half-wavelength) of a specified resonance frequency.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO
