PURPOSE:To improve accuracy in measurement by attaching a circular zero reset point and a measuring terminal facing said point cooperatively with a digital scale to a sliding shaft attached to a lathe head. CONSTITUTION:An operator turns on a power source switch of a digital scale 9 and moves a sliding shaft 8 to the left side by erecting perpendicularly the knob 19 of a measuring terminal arm 12 and pushing the same to the left side. A measuring terminal 13 stops by contacting with the position (a) at the top end of a circular zero reset point 17 and therefore the operator pushes the zero reset button of the scale 9. A measured value is displayed on the digital scale in this case. The operator attaches a work to the top end of a spindle unit 2 in this state and rotates a circular table 4. The operator moves a cutting tool 6 so as to conform with the measuring terminal by moving the shaft 8 to the right and left by means of the knob 19 of the arm 12 until the display on the scale 9 attains a desired spherical surface value.
