APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING PARTICULATE CAPTURING FILTER REGENERATING MEANS OF DIESEL ENGINE

PURPOSE:To prevent degradation of engine performance, by judging whether regeneration of a particulate capturing filter was successful, and prohibiting filter regenerating operation temperarily in case that the regeneration was unsuccessful. CONSTITUTION:In operation of an engine 1, judgement is made from the difference of the output signals of pressure sensors 7A, 7B disposed on the opposite sides of a filter 3 for capturing particulates contained in exhaust gas whether the amount of particulates captured by the filter 3 has reached a prescribed value. Regeneration of the filter 3 is carried out by burning the particulates captured by th filter 3 by raising the temperature of exhaust gas through operation of a fuel increasing means 25 and an injection timing delaying means 31 which serve as a filter regenerating means. In regenerating the filter 3, the time passed for regeneration is measured, and if completion of regeneration is not detected even after passing of a predetermined time, judgement is made that regeneration of the filter was unsuccessful. In this case, operation of the filter regenerating means 25, 31 is prohibited for about 30min.
