PURPOSE: To obtain a new acrylate and methacrylate containing phosphorus and sulfur by the reaction of acryl- or methacrylepoxide with a thiophosphate compd. ;CONSTITUTION: An acryl- or methacrylepoxide or episulfide expressed by formula I in an amount of 1 mol is made to react with a thiophosphate compd. expressed by formula II by 0.8 to 1.2 mol in a solvent such as benzene at -10 to 25°C to obtain the objective compd. expressed by formula IV or V. The acryl or methacryl compd. respectively expressed by formula IV or V is polymerized in the presence of a radical initiator at 50 to 120°C to obtain a new polymer or copolymer. In formula I, R1 is H, methyl; R2 is a 1 to 12 C alkylene, a cyclo- alkylene, etc.; R6 is H, a 1 to 12 C alkyl, etc.; X is O or S.
