OPTICAL ISOLATOR OF TYPE NON-DEPENDENT ON POLARIZATION DIRECTION AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE: To obtain the optical isolator of the type non-dependent on polarization directions which transmits non-polarized light without attenuating the light, can remove reflected return light, is small in size and light in weight and can be easily assembled relating to the optical isolator which does not depend on the polarization directions. ;CONSTITUTION: A 1st double refractive element 8 formed on a parallel flat plate in such a manner that the optical axis of the crystal has an inclination with the surface, a magneto-optical element 9 and a 2nd double refractive element 10 having the same shape as the shape of the 1st double refractive element 8 are arranged in this order on the optical axis 11. The 2nd double refractive element 10 is arranged by rotating 45° around the optical axis 11 with respect to the 1st double refractive element 8. The two double refractive elements 8 and 10 are arranged by being inclined at the same angle symmetrically with the polarization direction of ordinary light R₁ at the time of forward propagation.
