PURPOSE:To improve measuring accuracy of the flow rate of solid in a transport pipe, by fixing a sound detector or a vibration detector to the outer wall of the transport pipe in an airtight manner, taking a specified frequency band out of the output of the detector, and measuring the flow rate of the solid in the transport pipe. CONSTITUTION:A sound or vibration detector 13 is fixed to an outer surface 14 of the wall of a descending pipe 6 by an attaching body 15, which is tightly closed by a packing sealing material such as putty. The output of the detector 13 is fed to an octave filter 16, and the frequency range of 1-8kHz is taken out as a measuring region. The output is supplied to a measured average-value computing circuit 17, where the weighted mean of the detected times is computed and the average solid flow speed is obtained. The preset value of an adjusting meter 18 is adjusted by the output. By making the frequency region in the range of 1-8kHz the measuring region, the effect of dark noise is decreased. Furthermore, effect of the material of a transport pipe is avoided. Therefore the measuring accuracy of the flow rate of the solid in the transport pipe can be improved.
