PURPOSE:To improve learning effect, to grasp tendency characteristic to a learner, and to obtain the CAI system which is useful for individual instruction and teaching material generation by grasping how much the learner understands a learning subject and the accurate contents of an error and reflecting them on the instruction. CONSTITUTION:The CAI system which has a knowledge base (a) for the understanding of a method of solving some learning subject and a knowledge base for knowledge regarding the subject is equipped with an expert system which finds the extent (b) of understanding as to subject solution by using a process of the solution of the subject by the learner and the knowledge base (a) for method understanding, an expert system which finds the extent (d) of understanding as to knowledge regarding the subject by using the solution result of the subject and the knowledge base (c) for knowledge understanding, and an expert system which judges the total extent (f) of learning attainment from the respective guided extents of understanding.
