PURPOSE: To improve the quality of steel pipe and to improve the yield by determining the optimum limit vibration speed in advance, dividing the optimum limit vibration speed by the present vibration speed and multiplying the quotient by the present steel pipe straightening speed. ;CONSTITUTION: The optimum limit vibration speed (m) is determined in advance, and by means of the vibration accelerometer 2 of the steep pipe straightener 1 and an integrator 5, from the present vibration speed (m'), the ratio of the vibration speed K=m/m' (1) is obtained. Then, by multiplying this ratio by the present straightening speed M that is obtained from the speedometer of the steel pipe straightener 1, the optimum limit speed is set as M'=KM (2). By obtaining M' and outputting a correcting command to the straightener 1 through a straightening speed control device 7, the correcting is performed. By continuing the operation on these formula (1) and formula (2), the straightener is converged to the optimum limit vibration speed (m) and also to the optimum limit speed M'.
